The Spiritual Source of HIV and AIDS
HIV AND AIDS ARE A PLAGUE ON MANKIND FROM GOD BECAUSE MANKIND HAS REJECTED GOD AND REFUSED TO OBEY HIS LAWS.
Let's be clear on this: plagues aren't caused by 'germs', 'bad hygeine', etc. Plagues are punishments on society from God, for the society's sinful ways. The germ, virus, etc., is only a vehicle God uses.
Lets's also be clear that God does not send plagues against individuals. Innocent people are sometimes affected by plagues, too.
Exodus 9:2 [2] If you refuse to [obey God and] let them go and continue to hold them back, [3] the hand of the LORD will bring a terrible plague on your livestock in the field--on your horses and donkeys and camels and on your cattle and sheep and goats. [4] But the LORD will make a distinction between the livestock of Israel [which wanted to worship Him] and that of Egypt [which didn't], so that no animal belonging to the Israelites will die.' "
Exodus 9:13-16 [13] Then the LORD said to Moses, "Get up early in the morning, confront Pharaoh and say to him, `This is what the LORD, the God of the Hebrews, says: Let my people go, so that they may worship me, [14] or this time I will send the full force of my plagues against you and against your officials and your people, so you may know that there is no one like me in all the earth. [15] For by now I could have stretched out my hand and struck you and your people with a plague that would have wiped you off the earth. [16] But I have raised you up for this very purpose, that I might show you my power and that my name might be proclaimed in all the earth.
Exodus 10:16-17 [16] Pharaoh quickly summoned Moses and Aaron and said, "I have sinned against the LORD your God and against you. [17] Now forgive my sin once more and pray to the LORD your God to take this deadly plague away from me."
Exodus 32:31b-35 [31b] They have made themselves gods of gold. [32] But now, please forgive their sin--but if not, then blot me out of the book you have written." [33] The LORD replied to Moses, "Whoever has sinned against me I will blot out of my book. [34] Now go, lead the people to the place I spoke of, and my angel will go before you. However, when the time comes for me to punish, I will punish them for their sin." [35] And the LORD struck the people with a plague because of what they did with the calf Aaron had made.
Numbers 14:36-37 [36] So the men Moses had sent to explore the land, who returned and made the whole community grumble against him by spreading a bad [i.e., false] report about it-- [37] these men responsible for spreading the bad report about the land were struck down and died of a plague before the LORD.
Numbers 16:41-50 [41] The next day the whole Israelite community grumbled against Moses and Aaron. "You have killed the LORD's people," they said. [42] But when the assembly gathered in opposition to Moses and Aaron and turned toward the Tent of Meeting, suddenly the cloud covered it and the glory of the LORD appeared. [43] Then Moses and Aaron went to the front of the Tent of Meeting, [44] and the LORD said to Moses, [45] "Get away from this assembly so I can put an end to them at once." And they fell facedown. [46] Then Moses said to Aaron, "Take your censer and put incense in it, along with fire from the altar, and hurry to the assembly to make atonement for them. Wrath has come out from the LORD; the plague has started." [47] So Aaron did as Moses said, and ran into the midst of the assembly. The plague had already started among the people, but Aaron offered the incense and made atonement for them. [48] He stood between the living and the dead, and the plague stopped. [49] But 14,700 people died from the plague, in addition to those who had died because of Korah. [50] Then Aaron returned to Moses at the entrance to the Tent of Meeting, for the plague had stopped.
Numbers 25:1-9 [1] While Israel was staying in Shittim, the men began to indulge in sexual immorality with Moabite women, [2] who invited them to the sacrifices to their gods. The people ate and bowed down before these gods. [3] So Israel joined in worshiping the Baal of Peor. And the LORD's anger burned against them. [4] The LORD said to Moses, "Take all the leaders of these people, kill them and expose them in broad daylight before the LORD, so that the LORD's fierce anger may turn away from Israel." [5] So Moses said to Israel's judges, "Each of you must put to death those of your men who have joined in worshiping the Baal of Peor." [6] Then an Israelite man brought to his family a Midianite woman right before the eyes of Moses and the whole assembly of Israel while they were weeping at the entrance to the Tent of Meeting. [7] When Phinehas son of Eleazar, the son of Aaron, the priest, saw this, he left the assembly, took a spear in his hand [8] and followed the Israelite into the tent. He drove the spear through both of them--through the Israelite and into the woman's body. Then the plague against the Israelites was stopped; [9] but those who died in the plague numbered 24,000.
Deuteronomy 28:20-22 [20] The LORD will send on you curses, confusion and rebuke in everything you put your hand to, until you are destroyed and come to sudden ruin because of the evil you have done in forsaking him. [21] The LORD will plague you with diseases until he has destroyed you from the land you are entering to possess. [22] The LORD will strike you with wasting disease, with fever and inflammation, with scorching heat and drought, with blight and mildew, which will plague you until you perish.
2 Samuel 24:11-15 [11] Before David got up the next morning, the word of the LORD had come to Gad the prophet, David's seer: [12] "Go and tell David, `This is what the LORD says: I am giving you three options. Choose one of them for me to carry out against you.' " [13] So Gad went to David and said to him, "Shall there come upon you three years of famine in your land? Or three months of fleeing from your enemies while they pursue you? Or three days of plague in your land? Now then, think it over and decide how I should answer the one who sent me." [14] David said to Gad, "I am in deep distress. Let us fall into the hands of the LORD, for his mercy is great; but do not let me fall into the hands of men." [15] So the LORD sent a plague on Israel from that morning until the end of the time designated, and seventy thousand of the people from Dan to Beersheba died.
1 Kings 8:37-43 [37] "When famine or plague comes to the land, or blight or mildew, locusts or grasshoppers, or when an enemy besieges them in any of their cities, whatever disaster or disease may come, [38] and when a prayer or plea is made by any of your people Israel--each one aware of the afflictions of his own heart, and spreading out his hands toward this temple-- [39] then hear from heaven, your dwelling place. Forgive and act; deal with each man according to all he does, since you know his heart (for you alone know the hearts of all men), [40] so that they will fear you all the time they live in the land you gave our fathers. [41] "As for the foreigner who does not belong to your people Israel but has come from a distant land because of your name-- [42] for men will hear of your great name and your mighty hand and your outstretched arm--when he comes and prays toward this temple, [43] then hear from heaven, your dwelling place, and do whatever the foreigner asks of you, so that all the peoples of the earth may know your name and fear you, as do your own people Israel, and may know that this house I have built bears your Name.
Jeremiah 24:8-10 [8] "'But like the poor figs, which are so bad they cannot be eaten,' says the LORD, 'so will I deal with Zedekiah king of Judah, his officials and the survivors from Jerusalem, whether they remain in this land or live in Egypt. [9] I will make them abhorrent and an offense to all the kingdoms of the earth, a reproach and a byword, an object of ridicule and cursing, wherever I banish them. [10] I will send the sword, famine and plague against them until they are destroyed from the land I gave to them and their fathers.'"
Ezekiel 14:21-23 [21] "For this is what the Sovereign LORD says: How much worse will it be when I send against Jerusalem my four dreadful judgments--sword and famine and wild beasts and plague--to kill its men and their animals! [22] Yet there will be some survivors--sons and daughters who will be brought out of it. They will come to you, and when you see their conduct and their actions, you will be consoled regarding the disaster I have brought upon Jerusalem--every disaster I have brought upon it. [23] You will be consoled when you see their conduct and their actions, for you will know that I have done nothing in it without cause, declares the Sovereign LORD."
Revelation 11:6 These men have power to shut up the sky so that it will not rain during the time they are prophesying; and they have power to turn the waters into blood and to strike the earth with every kind of plague as often as they want.
Deuteronomy 28:15 However, if you do not obey the LORD your God and do not carefully follow all his commands and decrees I am giving you today, all these curses will come upon you and overtake you:
v.18 The fruit of your womb will be cursed . . .
vv. 21-22 [21] The LORD will plague you with diseases until he has destroyed you from the land you are entering to possess. [22] The LORD will strike you with wasting disease, with fever and inflammation, with scorching heat and drought, with blight and mildew, which will plague you until you perish.
vv.27-28 [27] The LORD will afflict you with the boils of Egypt and with tumors, festering sores and the itch, from which you cannot be cured. [28] The LORD will afflict you with madness, blindness and confusion of mind.
vv.34-35 [34] The sights you see will drive you mad. [35] The LORD will afflict your knees and legs with painful boils that cannot be cured, spreading from the soles of your feet to the top of your head.
v.45 All these curses will come upon you. They will pursue you and overtake you until you are destroyed, because you did not obey the LORD your God and observe the commands and decrees he gave you.
Zechariah 14:12, 15 [12] This is the plague with which the LORD will strike all the nations that fought against Jerusalem: Their flesh will rot while they are still standing on their feet, their eyes will rot in their sockets, and their tongues will rot in their mouths. [15] A similar plague will strike the horses and mules, the camels and donkeys, and all the animals in those camps.
Nowhere in the Bible does God send a plague against an individual. Plagues are sent as judgment and punishment against disobedient societies. No one of us has any right to tell another "God punished you by giving you HIV." Sin is a spiritual disease that affects the sinner and others. Innocent people suffer from the effects of other peoples' sins, including becoming infected with HIV. David's subjects were affected by David's sin. (His subjects were not blameless -- they knew David had committed adultery with Bethsheba, but nobody said anything, even though under the Law of Moses adulterers were supposed to be stoned to death.)
